OUR PROPOSALS
In accordance with the draft Local Plan, Upper Swallick will be a sustainable new community with a strong and clearly defined village character.
Guided by the TCPA (Town & Country Planning Association) principles, the new Garden Village will maximise the opportunities presented by its countryside setting in a sensitive and positive manner, creating a high quality environment for residents with generous green spaces and well designed buildings.
To ensure it fulfils its potential, Upper Swallick will include facilities and services for existing and future residents, providing a sustainable and healthy environment in which to live, work and play.
Upper Swallick will be a well-connected place with new and improved transport links to Basingstoke Town Centre, supported by public transport and active travel corridors. It will be a place which is highly walkable, with convenient access to local facilities and services within the development to meet the majority of people’s day to day needs. Measures will be taken to minimise the impact of traffic upon both the surrounding rural roads and nearby rural communities, and on the urban roads and communities in southern Basingstoke.
Our proposals will deliver:

Up to 2,500 homes, including 40% affordable housing, helping to address the borough’s housing needs

Education facilities including a new primary school, expansion of the existing primary school and nursery provision

Shops, a community centre, sports pitches and commercial space

Extensive open space connected by a network of footpaths and cycleways

Protection and enhancement of the existing public rights of ways and cycling route

Public transport enhancements and improvements to the existing road network

New and enhanced pedestrian and cycling routes

Over xx hectares (xx acres) of publicly accessible open green space
