LANDSCAPE
A Landscape Led Development
Upper Swallick will be a biodiverse and high-quality place, well integrated with the exisiting landscape and providing ecological enhancement and green corridors that link new and existing features.
Our proposals are shaped by a landscape-led approach to ensure Upper Swallick is distinct from, and sensitive to, the rural character of surrounding villages.
The landscape strategy will:

Ensure we contribute to protecting and enhancing the natural environment
Respect existing built and historic environments
Enhance biodiversity through integrated open space, landscape and surface water drainage strategies
Provide a green framework for healthy lifestyles including exercise, mindfulness and food production

Access to Open Countryside
Preserving the Countryside Setting
Parameter plans and the Design Code will ensure that master planning respects and preserves the character of existing villages and communities through a combination of strategic gaps, woodland planting, and open spaces. The aim is to complement not compete with the character of nearby communities and their setting. Edge of settlement treatments using green buffers and green fingers will also be included.
Open Space
The masterplan includes xx acres (xx hectares) of publicly accessible open space, significantly enhancing access to the countryside for local residents and in excess of the Council’s policy requirements.
Open spaces will range from more formal areas in the centre of the site, to more informal green spaces towards the edge of the development. Play spaces will be placed throughout the development whilst sports pitches will provide space for more formal sports.
